The Swisspass
It is a physical red card (and digital in the SBB Mobile app) that acts as a support for all your ski passes and passes.
The essential subscription: The Demi-tarif / Halbtax
Buying a single train ticket is very expensive. The vast majority of residents buy a half-price annual subscription (Demi-tarif). It costs just under 200 CHF per year and gives you the right to buy tickets at a 50% discount on Swiss trains, buses, boats and urban transport in almost all cities. It pays for itself very easily.
The General Subscription (AG / GA)
If you are an extreme commuter who travels by train to go to work every day, the General Subscription allows you to travel unlimitedly on any intercity, urban train, boat and postbus in the country. It's expensive (almost CHF 4,000 per year for adults in 2nd class, but employers sometimes subsidize some of it), but it offers complete freedom ("Get on the train and forget about the ticket").
Super Saver Tickets and Community Tickets
If you buy your train tickets in the app (SBB Mobile) several weeks in advance, you can find super-réduits tickets / supersaver tickets with up to 70% discount, valid exclusively for the exact time marked.
In addition, many communes sell locally highly subsidized Cartes Journalières / Tageskarten for their neighbors.
