Right then, I’m going to ask the question because this comes up in private chats every week: what ‘hoax’ did you believe before you arrived in Switzerland?
The one about “everything works perfectly here”, the one about “you can live comfortably on any job”, the one about “you’ll definitely save money”… or the classic “I’ll be settled in within two months”.
Spoiler: not always.
I think there are a few common fantasies that crop up time and time again, and then reality sets in: insurance, rent, the language, the job market... and it all comes crashing down pretty quickly.
