The Federal Council has launched a consultation on reforming the Lex Koller, and the direction is clear: more restrictions for non-EU and non-EFTA nationals. It is proposed that they would have to apply for an individual permit even to purchase a main residence, and if they leave Switzerland, they would be obliged to sell within two years. Furthermore, the aim is to ban the purchase of property purely for investment purposes with a view to letting it out.
